Notice of Budget Hearing: The Board of Madison County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Conference Room at the Courthouse in Virginia City, to review and finalize the County budget for fiscal year 2008-2009, and to review budget amendments for the final close out of the fiscal year 2007-2008 budget.  Any taxpayer can review the budget and budget amendments and make comments.
The Board of Madison County Commissioners will be conducting budget meetings in the Commissioners’ Conference Room of the Madison County Courthouse in Virginia City, Montana, on Thursday, August 28, 2008, beginning at 9:00 a.m. to review possible changes in budgets since preliminary hearings were conducted.  The following is a list of meetings that have been scheduled: 9:00 Jill Steeley–Public Health Budget; 9:30 MaryAnn O’Malley–Justice of the Peace Budget; 10:00 Chris Mumme–Emergency Management Budget; 11:00  Dave Schenk–Sheriff’s Budget; 1:00 Ralph Hamler–Solid Waste Budget. If anyone else would like to schedule a meeting to review their budget before the Final Budget Hearing scheduled for September 9, 2008, please contact Laurie in the Commissioners’ Office as quickly as possible.
INVITATION TO BID Separate sealed bids for supplying materials required for the Madison County Bear Creek Bridge Replacement Project will be received by the office of Great West Engineering, Inc, located at 2501 Belt View Drive, PO Box 4817, Helena MT 59604, until 5:00 pm local time on August 28, 2008. The project, which consists of replacing an existing bridge near Cameron with a precast concrete box culvert, will be constructed by Madison County crews. The work will involve supplying one precast concrete box culvert with precast concrete curbs, and precast concrete wingwalls. The project is being funded with grant monies from the Treasure State Endowment Program (TSEP) and Madison County bridge funds. The contract documents, consisting of Drawings and Project Manual, may be examined or obtained at the office of Great West Engineering, Inc, located at 2501 Belt View Drive, PO Box 4817, Helena MT 59604, Phone 406) 449-8627 in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Required deposit is $20.00 per set, which is not refundable. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled time for the public opening of bids. The right is reserved to reject any or all proposals received, to waive informalities, to postpone the award of the contract for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days, and to accept the lowest responsive and responsible bid that is in the best interest of the OWNER. Madison County Ordinance 3-98 prohibits water from any irrigation ditch or sprinkler system to flood or spray upon any county road or to thereby obstruct or prevent vehicular traffic or render the road unsafe for vehicular passage. Any person found guilty of purposely or knowingly violating the terms of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and fined in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Dollars ($100) and/or be imprisoned in the county jail for a term not to exceed thirty (30) days, or both.
Minutes of the Madison County Board of Commissioners’ meetings for the period beginning May 1, 2008, and ending on May 31, 2008, are now available for public review in the office of the Clerk and Recorder at the Madison County Courthouse. The Madison County Board of Commissioners approved claims for payment in the amount of $712,042.01 and payroll for all funds in the amount of $611,118.95, with a total of $1,323,160.96 for the period beginning May 1, 2008, and ending on May 31, 2008. The full and complete claims and payroll lists are available for public review in the office of the Clerk and Recorder at the Madison County Courthouse.
